Responsibilities
Creating mattes that accurately reflect the motion of a particular object/s over a series of frames in 2D
Creating and Editing of sophisticated shape/s
Animating shapes with hand and with the help of trackers
Compositing shapes, fill modes and changing opacity settings
Trace the areas of live action frames where computer graphics will overlap or interact with live images to create clear areas (mattes) within the frame to allow all elements of the scene to be layered well.
Digitally isolates and removes non-conforming or unwanted elements from frames of a shot, through rotoscoping or techniques to create final images that meet art direction
Produce garbage mattes and accurate articulate mattes by using in-house roto software
Traces the objects of live action plates where CG overlaps or interacts.
Remove rigs and wires using Nuke and other Paint software
The output creates mattes within the frame to allow all elements/objects of the shot to be layered as per compositors need.
Packages, labels and archives character or object files
Quality checks final files.
Accountable for meeting productivity and quota targets
Able to understand the clear instruction from client and provide the desired output
Does Self-review/quality checks for accuracy
Contribute ideas with immediate superior, production to make strong pipeline
Accurately assess the length of time necessary to generate high quality work
Able to do RND to execute complex shots
Makes recommendations to the Supervisor 2D Paint on methodology of working on a particular assignment
Reviews shots with compositing supervisors
Works directly with the Supervisor 2D Comp / HOD 2D to develop pipeline tools and make workflow adjustments that would suit the department
Works on tasks of greater complexity (compared to E Level artists)
Able to finish the tasks without any handholding/supervision
Need to come-up with technical/creative solutions
Able to grade and develop the look of the shot
Accountable for meeting productivity and quota targets on time
Is responsible for giving inputs for bidding and following the schedule of the work allocated to him/her
