VFX Roto Team Lead

The Roto Lead supports and mentors the roto team, QC internal shots, and work. In addition, the Lead partners with the compositing team to make sure all the elements can seamlessly integrate to achieve the highest level of VFX “realism” for major feature films.



Responsibilities

Able to deliver the highest quality of roto – both character and inorganic objects to meet the client expectations.
Able to correctly identify the motion blur and make sure that the rotos will work for the compositors.
Complete assigned tasks effectively; able to troubleshoot and QA own work to the highest quality.
Perform the highest level of QC to make sure that the client requirements are met.
Work with Production helping to breakdown task requirements and assign shots to artists.
Coach and mentor other Roto artists using the latest techniques to grow their skillset and the quality of work in the studio as a whole.
Tutor and train Junior Artists as required.




Requirements

A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Roto Artist in a VFX Production environment. Experience working on international projects is a plus.
At least one year of experience in a Lead role.
Expert knowledge of Silhouette and good knowledge of Nuke to make sure that the templates are accurate.
A degree or diploma in computer graphics or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent leadership, communication and problem solving skills.
Approachable, proactive, and accommodating attitude.
Innate desire to stay informed of current technologies.
Strong time management skills and the ability to balance priorities under the pressure of a deadline-driven production.
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.
A team-oriented mentality with a 'get it done' attitude.

An ability to take direction and implement feedback with a positive attitude.
